I wonder if you have considered sighted help which I understand the RNIB say they can provide with ensuring it is all set up correctly. ----- Original Message ----- From: G. First of all, I find that when the TVonics has been left for a few hours and I switch on, I just can’t get a channel. I had to get sighted help yesterday to get things moving. I normally start my TV then press the standby button on the TVonics – using the HDMI cable it worked well until a few days ago. I’m wondering if there might be a design fault in the Tvonics that makes the signal through the HDMI output and/or cable erratic I tried loads of options between my TV and the TVonics and couldn’t get it to work. I then tried the scart conne ction and it did work. I then put the HDMI cable into another TV with the TVonics and it worked, so when I returned it to the Tvonics and my original TV, it worked again. Today however I’m back in the same position and have to use the scart to get a signal to the TV. The HDMI wire is OK, – the options are perhaps my TV isn’t taking the signal properly or the HDMI output on the Tvonics is somehow erratic in letting a signal out. If anyone has any thoughts I’d be glad to know before going back to the RNIB. 2. Sccondly, because of all this, my wife and I (both blind) have great difficulty in starting the box in HDMI mode and wnder if we’re doing the right thing. We’re only using the standby button – are there other buttons we need to press to make the signal come through? e.g. the on off button. If the Tvonics is put onto standby mode when we go to bed, do we only need to press the standby button the next day to get things started. It’s something that should be easy to figure out, but we’ve had great difficulties getting it right. The other problem is that our TV has a number of inputs and when on HDMI it doesn’t seem to automatically go to that input when we turn on the TVonics. It shouldn’t be a problem as we don’t use any of the other channels and so it should default to the last one used, but because we don’t appear to be getting a signal when we switch on, we sometimes try the input channels just in case they’ve changed.. It can lead to an hour or so of frustration before getting anywhere. It’s possible that our Tvonics is faulty, so I’m asking for general wisdom before going to the RNIB.
