Hi Carol,

The code can be entered manually, but the problem is knowing the code! Would
be a lot simpler if manufacturer's printed the code on the back of the
remote - even if it meant getting sighted assistance to read it. At least
the code could be entered manually saving all the time and trouble pressing
the programme up button and getting nowhere.
