Not Jackie, but sure she indicated she knew that in her response to you.

Sorry, Jackie, I was being flippant. She doesn't say "Good evening" but I was sort of suggesting that she might, if she were in a good mood and ready for work! <BG>

Hi Carol

She says "Good evening"? First I've heard of that, she
obviously doesn't say it to us either then, or "Good
morning", or "Good afternoon" for that matter, (smiles).
I know when she is on because the channel jumps from
whatever it happens to be on through the built-in
Freeview or Sky to TVonics, and once I get that
clearance, I can then go to the EPG or library. When I
press the stand-by button after use, she does say
"Entering stand-by".

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Most times this works for me also, but sometimes we know
we've left plenty of time and still she won't say "Good
evening"!

Anyway, we're just treating her with care, not rushing
her and being very thankful we have something onto which
to record - at last!

One thing I have noticed is that pressing buttons on the
remote during the Tvonics boot up significantly
increases the likelihood of getting no speech. A quick
turn off (standby) and on again always works for me.

Hi all,

We have a fairly regular saying at home which is "Amy's
on strike". This simply means that she fails to speak,
often after booting up, when we first go to use her. Of
course, we find ways round, sometimes needing to reboot
the box again; but I wonder if anyone else is finding
this problem and if you have a better solution than a
bit of hit and miss and, finally, if you've concluded
what's going on and why!
