Hi Ibrahim What is the Dualit? (smiles). It's a DAB radio that Dualit made to complement kitchen appliances in black, chrome/silver, or cream. It has one of the largest displays on a DAB radio apparently. There are five presets for DAB, and five for FM. It's a mono DAB radio. It has no frills like SD, USB or whatever connectivity. There is an auxiliary socket, and you can press one button that cycles through FM, Auxiliary, and DAB. The latter is its default when turned on for the first time. It has a metal casing, making the sound really brilliant in my view. The rechargeable battery lasts about three hours on a good day, but you are best sticking to mains if possible. There is a kitchen timer on this radio which, for me, is completely inaccessible. Nevertheless, it is there, and someone with useful vision may find it handy. I suppose some might say that it is expensive for a DAB/FM radio without bells and whistles, but I bought it for the sound and build quality, and didn't want any of the other stuff that I wouldn't be able to see to use in any case. It's a belter!! Go see!! Hi Jackie. I might be getting one of these pure moods, I'm looking for a DAB radio and I've heard nothing but encouraging remarks about it on list. Sorry if I seem like I'm missing something, but what is the Dulit? All the best, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, October 03, 2009 8:33 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: TIME TO BUY A NEW DIGITAL RADIO?Hi Carol I take my Pure Move everywhere when I travel. I think it's a great little radio to be honest, and FM is really good too. In fact, if Igosomewhere and the hotel doesn't permit a good DAB signal, I find FM pretty handy just to have something on. As for John Lewis, enjoy yourselves in there, it's a favourite pastime of mine to go looking at their radio selection. And I hope you lovetheDulit as much as I do, it's one of my best purchases ever. As for updating the Move, I've never done so, nor would really everwantto. To be honest, I think you might need sighted assistance to seethescreen prompts, but this is just a guess, it might not be factual. Enjoy, you lucky girl!! (smiles). As I mentioned to Paul, I read your write-up very soon afterwards and discovered you'd told me. You may want to answer the question I've asked Paul about thereceptionyou've got when you've been out and about with it, please. We're also wondering if there have been any upgrades, for which you've needed to use the USB socket. If you've upgraded, how did you findtheprocess? We're definitely getting a radio soon and are just working through our options now. We intend to go and have a play around at John Lewis too in the next week - and then decide! I have a feeling that we'll end up with the Pure Move for out and about and the Dualit Kitchen for home! <Smiles> -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx On Twitter: http://twitter.com/songbird49a ---- Original Message ---- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, October 03, 2009 6:46 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: TIME TO BUY A NEW DIGITAL RADIO?Hi Carol Not Tris, but he won't mind! (smile). Basically, the Pure Move has what you call a preset button. Youpressthis, then use your left or right arrow of the joystick to move between those you have set. It always defaults to number one when you go into it, so you just jog right once to reach Radio Two if that's what you've set preset twoas.I hope this is making sense, but come back to me if you want afurtherbreakdown of how it works. The downside of the Move from a "blind perspective" will be its lack of direct preset buttons which means it is somewhat more reliant on its display. I would suggest people try it with a friendly local retailer before committing to it The Move does not take dry batteries but has an internal recharable that seems to hold rharge quite well. The nearest radio in size to the Move that I have seen if theRobertsEcologic 2 (which I think is a renamed version of something that I sawearlier this year) which will take dry batteries and has direct presetbuttons.
