I've been shopping with them for about three years now. I remember looking at
the main site when I started, there where something like fifteen frames on the
screen.

The main site is a whole lot better now and is a doddle if your a confident
Internet user. Then again, I've not checked out yet.

Hi Jonathan,

Actually, I have a theory on this. I believe that if people see there is an
accessible site, they sometimes assume that the main site isn't accessible,
or is less accessible, which is a logical assumption, because they then
wonder why an accessible site was needed at all, if the main site is less
accessible. But right from the beginning, I never used the accessible site,
except for once or twice, because I found it so lacking in what it offered,
that that in itself wasn't worth the investment, so I learned the main site
well, and it paid off dividends. Just an old man's (in computer terms),
experience.

I decided to take a look at the main site after all the talk on this list.
I have to say, it's far better than the access site in terms of the
information available. However, it did take a bit of trial and error to get
to grips with - a good JAWS navigation workout.

I think I will be using the main site again, as it seems worth the
investment.

Aha, of course!

Well, how about we call that a day unless you can convince me to buy you
your favourite biscuits using all possible methods for the site!

Hi Carol,

Not this instructor, I need the extra five minutes to decide what
biscuits I want this month <Grin>.

No, not if you're talking on a mailing list. Anyway, I thought
instructors should be able to do their shopping in just a quarter of an
hour! <GRINS>

OK, Steve, it's time you gave us a bit of help then because I certainly
can't get round it that way!

Give us some tips, or keep quiet about your achievements! <BG>

Hi Carol,

I personally prefer the main site for a number of reasons. One of which
is that they allow you to store your credit card for future use, whereas
the accessible site don't, so checkout is a lot quicker. Also, you
can't use e-vouchers on the accessible site. Also you don't get all of
the special offers on the accessible site either. In short then, an
accessible site with no access to what you want, is no use at all. We
did a complete monthly shop on the main site last week, and it took 20
minutes. I now love the way that you can show all favourites in the
main site, just do a jaws or window-eyes find on what you want, hit the
add 1 to the basket button, then do a jaws find on the next item and so
on. I feel that the main site, is very quick now if you know your way
around it.

I have heard from a number of sighted friends that the normal site is
over the top for them and some prefer the Access site.

Hi Carol

If it does go, blame those that kept up the pressure to have just one
site.

Having; just 1 site clearly isn't going to make everyone happy.

I feel there is a need for 2 sites because:
There are some users that want, or need, a site that is quick, easy,
and not cluttered to use.

But there are also those that want every single detail.

Derek
