Have you tried it in a different socket? Say another room with a phone?
Unfortunately a stand alone device like this is no longer available which I
just cannot understand. I think I recall that RNIB imported these from Canada
but of course I stand corrected. Guess you have done the usual, checked that no
residue discharge from long standing batteries has been cleaned and that the
battery terminals have not got damaged. Sometimes if that is the case it can be
possible to fix a minor displacement of the connections.

Yes Eleanor, that's the one. It's odd because it registers incoming calls,
but annoyingly doesn't now announce them as the calls come in.

Well I understand that Cobalt do a phone with caller ID and also RNIB do a
land-line phone with caller ID. Are you referring to the Caller ID
purchased many years ago for around £30.00 from RNIB? I have one of these.
What is the matter that it is not working properly? Guess I do not have to
state the obvious, is the cable from it to the phone in tact?
