Hi John, Thanks for your advice. The engineer didn't have a clu on manually setting up the BT Home Hub so I had to install all the BT parafinalia. My existing Netgear won't work because its an ADSL modem rather than a cable one. I'm just about to go and take a look at your recommendation as Ican't seem to figure out how to set up port forwarding on this BT thing.

Hello Yusuf, I do not like the BT hardware they provide; possibly that is an unfair prejudice, but there you go.I use a Draytek Vigor 2820, which has both ADSL and Cable connections on it.I do not know about the Net gear routers. I got this router once I haddecided to go to BT Infinity. It was all set up and in use before my switchover, using my previous ADSL service with BT Total Broadband. I have usedother Vigor routers in the past and so knew that they are accessible and howto set it up. When BT came round to do the install I let him do his checks on the line, which he did first, and then asked him to connect the Ethernet cable into myrouter rather than theirs. By a bit of research on the internet I had already set it up for Infinity. The technician also gave me the same information as I have found out, so I am sure he would tell you the same things. The Vigor simply took over on the Infinity service with no issues at all. It is a superb service from my point of view. I hope that helps.
