last year a machine of mine was badly effected by it and never quite
recovered.

Hi Debbie,

Sounds like it may be worth doing a closer inspection of the
fans initially.

The fan you "hear" may only be the main power supply fan.
Sitting on or around the actually CPU or Processor, is
usually another smaller, and therefore quieter, fan which
keeps the CPU cool. If that fan fails, and they
occasionally do, there is generally a safety cut off which
kills the machine to try and protect the CPU from damage.

Oddly enough, this exact same thing happened to one of the
PCs is our office yesterday.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Switch off problem

Hi

My computer keeps turning itself off randomly. =20
I have done all the checks I can think of, spy ware,
viruses, disc clean up,
defrag, scan disc etc but it is still doing the switch off
thing.
Do you think it could be a power supply problem, the fan is
running.
Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Debbie
