The fan you "hear" may only be the main power supply fan. Sitting on or around the actually CPU or Processor, is usually another smaller, and therefore quieter, fan which keeps the CPU cool. If that fan fails, and they occasionally do, there is generally a safety cut off which kills the machine to try and protect the CPU from damage. Oddly enough, this exact same thing happened to one of the PCs is our office yesterday. Do you think it could be a power supply problem, the fan is running. Any comments or advice would be appreciated.
