Eleanor,
What verbosity setting do you normally use?  (Caps lock and
the = key cycles through them).  
I find the low is best for keepingdown unnecessary speech,
but you can create custom 
verbosity schemes too - I have to admit that I have never
got round to doing that myself 
though!
