But that's not so good if true. I am thoroughly disgusted with the Dolphin Tech Support right now. I get a trainee, he then tells me he is for Guide support and not Supernova. Then I get the Tech Support for Supernova and regretably this person is not sighted and cannot solve my problem with magnification. ----- Original Message ----- From: Hussein Patwa To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2012 10:29 AM Subject: [access-uk] SuperNova Access Suite 13.01 - Short Review Hello all, I thought I would post a few words in review of SuperNova 13.01 which was released a few days back in case it is helpful to others considering upgrading or purchasing the product. I would like to take this opportunity to add my own praise to all at the Dolphin SuperNova development and production team for the excellent work done on the version 13.01 release. This is a vast improvement over the previous version 12 and having now installed and used it on both my desktop and laptop I wanted to take a few moments to share the changes, which have benefited me most as a user. 1. Performance: this is vastly improved and the number of crashes for SuperNova and its associated processes has decreased by over 90% in daily use. I also find that the computer responds better and is less sluggish even when running multiple applications, and performance is reasonable even when using the laptop with aggressive power saving settings in effect. 2. The new web DOM means that navigating webpages is more responsive and there is no longer a major delay when jumping between different elements or searching for text. In particular, I am now able to use the main Facebook website, something that I have been unable to do since SuperNova version 11. The support for Aria means that changes when completing dynamic forms are announced immediately so there is no longer the hassle of submitting a form only to find that there was an error, which was not noticed before. 3. There is better support for the 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer, which, incidentally, even without SuperNova running offers a performance boost over the 32-bit edition. Going back to web navigation, the ability to jump to headings of different levels using the numbers 1-6 on the keyboard means that it is easier to navigate pages one visits regularly. For example, to jump to different search results on Google, simply press the number 3 and the link for each search result will be announced. Reading HTML e-mail messages in Microsoft Outlook is also much better particularly when trying to handle tables etc. 4. For me in particular, the support for more Braille displays is definitely welcome. I have had a HumanWare Brailliant 40 2nd Gen since November 2011, which I was unable to use with SuperNova version 12. I am now able to use this and therefore am finding it much easier to edit documents and take advantage of the functions of the Braille display. As I received the Braille display thanks to a grant, I was starting to feel very guilty of being unable to use it but this is no longer the case thanks to Dolphin. 5. SuperNova works flawlessly with NovaTalk, which I will write about in a separate post. Again, I particularly appreciate this as NovaTalk has made a big difference to my life being able to control SuperNova and my computer through voice even when my hands are in agony with the reynauds. There are many other new features in SuperNova version 13.01 but I think the above are the once which I appreciate most in day-to-day use. Like many people, I have griped about the poor performance of SuperNova in previous versions, but this has taken a major step forward in version 13. Here's looking forward to even more great developments in future updates. I hope my short review has been useful to those who may be considering upgrading. Of course, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have which are related to SuperNova and I hope you will share these on the list so they can be of benefit to others as well. Thanks as always for your time. All the best for now and take care. _______________________________________ Have a pleasant day, Kind Regards and Best Wishes, Hussein Patwa Tel: 0789 47 595 62 (UK) Tel: +44 (0)122 4433 954 (SIP) Twitter: www.twitter.com/hussein_patwa Skype: patwaspotterfan2 Web: www.patwanet.co.uk Blog: http://patwaspotterfan.livejournal.com Find me on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=510013486 Please note: Calls from witheld numbers may not be connected.
