Hi,
Just the one is needed. I have it on my right as that allows you to sweep as
you swipe with your cane. The sonar works well, as the band vibrates from low
pulses to constantly as you sweep across an obstacle. I was able to pick out
the edge of an open door, and locate it exactly to close it, and not rearrange
my forehead for the Nth time! Likewise the sonar works similar in relation to
distance. It detected our headboard, wich is about 6 inches off the wall behind
it. Takes a bit of using to maximise it, but does give you an idea of what’s
around your environment. Also links to Google maps for navigation. As you sweep
around, it also gives points of interest in your area when activated

Hi
Do you only need to wear one of these or can you pair multiple bands if you
want to wear more than one for instance one on your left and right wrist?

Hi,
Yes, it is an excellent device and I've only been using it less than a week.
I echo all you say Mike.

Hi,
The price on-line is $299. I have found that ordering these in from the
States, by the time delivery and import Tax is added, they run in around
£299. This is dependant on current exchange rates.
I have to say that I have been using one for the last 3 months and have
found it invaluable as a supplementary mobility aid along with either a long
cane or when I am out with my guide dog. I find it exceptional for locating
pedestrian crossing poles, as I found this a real pain when crossing and I
wasn't right beside the pole. The indoor and outdoor options give a vast
range of detection, outdoors up to 16 feet. Both indoor and outdoor can be
adjusted to suit your specific needs. The app also has a find my phone
function, which causes your phone to alarm and vibrate. I have been working
with the developers and providing feedback over the past months to help
develop the app and give any additional ideas for both personal and use in a
work environment.
Kindest,
Mike

Would you mind telling us a bit more about Sunu Band from your
perspective as a totally blind wearer. I've had a quick look using
the link you provided below, but is it just like something you wear on
your wrist that vibrates when you come up against obstacles in the
same way BuzzClip or Ray does?
Thanks.

The device I was talking about is the SunuBand,

I
bought one and I love it.
It is like the Mini Guide, or Ray, but you wear it on your wrist.
I also saw Andre Louis, an excellent musician, demonstrating Native
Instruments Komplete Kontrol, which is an accessible keyboard which,
using a computer, you can make the whole keyboard speak, from
selecting instruments, to editing parameters.
That's definitely on my shopping list.
So no John, I disagree that most of the stuff at Sight Village was for

It links to an app on your phone and has many functions, compass,
time, alarms that vibrate, but its prime function is to give haptic
feedback of when you are approaching objects.

hi david i was going to go but because of the heat and the difficulty
with the trains i gave it a miss sadly. i woder if the nav trace has
had it's updates yet. i would have liked to have seen that device but
again coming down from leeds changing at birmingham and getting to the
venue was too much for me. also, i do find the venues rather noisey
and busy and i must admit for a totally blind persons these days a lot
of the stuff seems to be for people who have some vision which is
great for them of course. techie is moving so very fast now and it's
good to see which new devices are coming on the market. i really wish
we had a good android satnav app i have just heard steve's sight
village podcast very interesting about his new device i think you wear
it on your wrist and it helps with mobility.
i have not heard much at all though about the event of course some
great offers with jaws were available.
