I have an Acer 3990Dexktop computer bought in 2011. This machine has four
internal drives, one of which is called 'System Reserved' This drive has
never needed to be defragged, however today when I checked the drives I saw
that it is marked as 51% fragmented. Not only that, but when I attempt to
optimize the drive it will not go onto the stop button, but flashes the stop
button on the screen and then reverts back to the Optimize button. The
computer is working fine and I have no problems with this. I am however, I
am wondering just what sort of material is likely to be on this drive and,
how it has become fragmented to such an extent. Also, if I leave it without
being optimized will it do any harm to the computer.
I think this is probably unlikely, but never having had any problems with
this drive since acquiring the machine four years ago, I would like some
advice on this problem.
