Hi Keith and David.

 

Keith, I've never heard anything about speak on.  As it concerns podcasts, then 
I don't think that I'd be interested in it because who wants to listen to an   
recording of a perfectly good show.

 

Now what I'm really interested in is the Sounds app itself.

 

My goodness a blind person can very easily get all mixt up and disorientated 
navigating through this maze. of pages and links.

 

Now I discovered a while ago that If you are listening to Craig Charles on 
Radio 6,  for instance , you press the application key and sometimes you get an 
option to create a short-cut to your desktop of that show.

 

This is magic for If I wanted to go from my desk-top, directly to a page with 
"Available Now" I can go to Radcliff and Marconi, that page and see old shows 
that are available now for listening to.

 

Absolutely Wonderful idea for blind listeners.

 

However there is a degree of inconsistency hear, because creating a short-cut 
between what you are listening to and your desk-top is not really consistent.  
Sometimes you can make ashort-cut but often you cannot.

 

When you have created a number of short-cut, You create a folder, on your 
desk-top and call it Links, and copy all your shortcuts and drop them into this 
Links folder.

 

After you reboot, you've got a folder on your desk-top, and if you open this 
folder, if you know what you are doing, which I do'nt incidentally You see all 
your links in the one place so all you need to do to get to a page with all the 
Craig Charles, Radcliff and Marconi, Tom Revenscroft, Iain Anderson, Vic 
Gallowway et, et,et. Is press enter on that shortcut and all is revealed within 
a couple of keystrokes.

 

This is great fun, but for me quite frustrating  People who real y understand 
the sounds app, could improve on my idea hugly and I'd someone to give it a go 
and keep me in the picture.

certainly have the ability and interest to have a go.

I know I keep on banging on about this but there is essentially a BBC Sounds 
app for the PC and this is called Speak On.

If you go to the Podcast app and from there find the BBC Component you will 
find an online directory of as far as I can tell all of the BBC Podcasts.

I have personally never found anything on Sounds that is not also here.

As this Online directory that Speak On accesses is maintained  by the BBC 
itself it is usually pretty up to date.
