Eleanor,

In Vista, at least, the new e-mail sound is a Windows system soun, so you can turn it on or off in Control Panel, Sounds, sound theme or similar. Of course, it might work slightly differently in other Windows versions.

Subject: [access-uk] Sound when New E-mail Comes In

Yesterday I posted to the list, I was having problems with Microsoft Sound on e-mail and in Word. I appear to have resolved the problem in Word and now have my sounds back again. However, no change on Outlook Express e-mail with Windows XP Pro. I have checked that the box is ticked for play sound so that is not the issue. I got it sorted with Word by removing and reinstalling the Sounds programme and ticking the box again. Actually I had to uncheck it and check it again. Did the same with e-mail but no success. There is not an apply button in the Outlook Express for this function, just an OK button. Any suggestions please?
