Hi Joe,

I am considering grabbing a PCI Express or PCI soundcard.

I haven't a clue what one to go for though. I detest Creative and their
Soundblaster muck and my last Turtle Beach buy, (the Catalina), although an
excellent card it was from the states and has been flaky in the 3 completely
different systems I've tryed it in. George bell even tested it for me as
the mic wasn't working and when it returned to me it was!

Any thoughts on what card to go for? I want decent playback but I don't
plan on doing alot with it other than having audio out and voice input, digi
ports I'll take if they come but are not necessary.

Hi DJ,
Glad the drives are good. At least that's 1 thing out of the equation.
If your drivers are up to date, and they are, might it be a dying sound=
 card?
If the crackling occurs from any sound source,=20
say 2 audio sources at 44.1 KHZ then the card is=20
not switching sampling rates, then it might be=20
down to the sound card shop and flex your wallet.

may be a failing chip, but with out a circuit=20
diagram there's probably not alot you can do=20
about that. But I guess you know all this anyway so I'll shut up.
