Hi,

I'm wondering if I can get people's thoughts/experiences of using
"sound beacons".  By which I mean devices which play recorded
locational or descriptive information, either when people approach the
beacon or on a timer.  I've read somewhere they have some of these at
London Euston station, and recall sometimes things like this have been
used at Sight Village or other events.

I'm involved in organising an event at which we're expecting
significant numbers of VI and disabled people.  The subject of sound
beacons has been raised as something we could provide.  I've only ever
heard/read about these, not used them myself.  I have some thoughts on
their application but would like to find out what other VI people
think.

Has anybody experienced these sound beacons?  What did you think of
them?  Did you find them useful?

Thanks for any feedback,
Catherine
