Hi Steve.

I've cut this one short now as it may start exceding the file
size limit for the list.

Yes, auto-record is a pain for other than severly practical
situations. Its just that Andy in his original message of a few
weeks back talked about recording meetings with clients in a
social work setting, and for this purpose I'd have thought
auto-recording wouldn't be too obnoxious.

I would not countenance it for the work I do, which is mainly
voice recording for transcription. On the portable front I
currently use the HHB Portadisc which gives excelent results. I
use it weekly for recording the local Talking Newspaper in
someone's front room, and although we are not obviously using a
'studio' setting, it equites itself very well. Again not an
accessible machine from a totals perspective, but prbably more
usable than your average Walkman offering.

Ray.
