Hello,

To stop windows 10 defaulting to edge, press windows key+x which will
bring up a menu. Press enter when you here 'settings, and right-arrow
until you get to aps. This should bring up a screen where you can
change such things as default web browser, email etc.

To turn off User Account Control,
Type UAC into the search box that comes up after pressing start
Click on 'change user account settings
You can turn it off from this screen.

Hope this helps!

Hi all.

I've just purchased a very nice Dell W10 computer.

I paid a sound engineer some cash to visit me and set it up.

I still need help from him, but I've already paid him over £200.

So I'm yet again turning to this list and others to see if I can get some
advice.

I think that ABH and or ABP have audio books that can be purchased from a
woman called: Janet Igburgh and I've already purchased 2 of them for my
Apple computers.  The may well have produced a book called Windows 10 and
JAWS.

So that search is ongoing.

The biggest problems I'm experiencing right now is that I don't understand
how Windows 10 actually works.

For instance:

If I attempt to delete a file I'm told that I don't have Administrative
rights.

I also get the User Control thing which is a bit of a pain as I don't know
how to respond to it.

The biggest problem I have is when I'm attempting to download a file from a
friend on Sendspace by pressing enter, JAWS announces "Microsoft Edge".
There is no further explaination of what is required from me, despite
running JAWS 18.

Can someone please advise me how to temporary disarm the user control and
microsoft edge facility, for they are really hampering my learning of this
new operating system.

Sorry for the long message but I'm stuck, not knowing what to do.

Any assistance would be of grate value as always.

Very best wishes.

Andy Logue.
