Hello all,
This is to let you know that the corrupted operating system, Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, was the cause for the laptop to freeze when attempting to log in. If you remember, I could type my password once clicking on my name, but after clicking ok, it froze at the welcome screen. This happens no more once Windows was reinstalled back to factory settings. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
