Hi Tristram -Don't know if I'm on my own here, but I'm not sure if it's safe to stop certain apps from loading. This is an HP Pavilion laptop, and I have things like:
Synaptics pointing device. Hd audio control pannel. Raid event monitor. Hp wireless assistant. Digital persona. NVIDIA. HP quick touch on screen. All checked to load at start up, and I don't know if I need them too? - Andy----- Original Message ----- From: "Tristram Llewellyn" <tristram.llewellyn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Removing as many startup apps is the best way to go through MSConfig.exe. The loading process is entirely under the control of Windows and not JAWS which is a common missconception. JAWS just has to wait its turn in the queue so the bigger the queue the longer it takes. Try uninstalling apps that you never use as well and do some general maintenance. It will help some at least.Regards. Hi Andy, Thanks for your imput on this and in some way glad to hear its not just methat has this issue. I am on the verge of reinstalling windows 7 just to seewhat might be causing this and if reinstallation would fix it but I doubt it. I feel that sometime over the past few months perhaps a windows update caused the problem but can't be sure anyway thanks lads for the feedback. Hi Paul - Yes, I have exactly the experience you detail below. I thought it might beto do with too many apps loading on start up, but have looked, and uncheckedthose I felt I could safely do so, and also let Tune Up Utilities look tosee which progs are loading that it feels are not necessary. I wondered tooif it was a Vista issue, but seeing as you are experienceing it under Windows7, then clearly not. So, I'm still having the same experience, andjust live with it, but it is irritating, especially when somebody is waitingon me for something, and I haven't booted up for the day - Andy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul J. Once I have then logged in again jaws takes another minute or so to load up on the desktop. I have tried trouble shooting various processes and also changed my anti-virus from Avast to Essentials but there was no change in this behaviour. My machine has 2 GB of memory and uses Windows 7 home premium. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this kind of thing. Many thanks, Paul. -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter.
