Hi Darran

Many thanks for this information. Jim raised an issue I have also
noticed in recent weeks. When I go home at night, more often than not,
the box is off, and I just put it back on for the news. Because I'm
following the Australian Open tennis at the moment, I've noticed it goes
off some time at night, so your explanation is very useful to know. It
isn't major for me as I don't record as a rule, but I'll nab someone
with sight the next time they are in to look in the system for me.

Thanks.

Jim, when does it happen? Is it purely at night or is it through the day
as well.

I know that Sky sometime ago introduced a stand-by mode that kicks into
action around 1am unless the box is in use. I think the system
determines this by whether or not you've changed station or something in
the previous 15 minutes. If you haven't, the box thinks its safe to go
into stand-by at 1 each morning.

If this is what's happening, don't worry, it can be stopped.

You'll need some sighted assistance though to go into the system setup
part of the services menu and you should be able to find the stand-by
option in there. Simply turn it off and things should be fine from then
on in.

        Hi,

Apologies for the off topic item, but not sure where else to go
for some help.

My sky box keeps going into stand-by mode for no apparent
reason. This as only started in the last couple of weeks, most annoying
when trying to record a film. Is this happening to anyone else with a
sky box? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this
problem? Any suggestions most appreciated.

        Jim.
