Hi Ian,
Thank you for your message.
Do you know how to contact the Sky app developers? I have just tried talking
to those on the Sky Accessibility line and the person I spoke to didn’t really
know how to help me at all!
On another point, do you use the web based version of Sky Go for Windows at
all? I am running Internet Explorer 11 using Windows 7 and until about a
fortnight ago I had what I would describe as reasonable access to Sky Go.
Catch up was relatively accessible and there was a watch button which JAWS
recognised to enable playback of the video. Also, choosing a channel to stream
live was relatively easy because you could just click on the programme you
wanted to watch in the schedule as it was hyperlinked and the channel would
then start streaming. However I am no longer able to do any of this.
Your thoughts/help would be much appreciated.
Andrew

Hi Andrew, yes there are a number of VO related access issues with the app.
The reasons 3 titles are announced is that they are presented on screen in rows
of three and VO simply reads out all three. I have occasionally got an
individual show to launch by double tapping the correct thumbnail image but
this is a matter of hit and miss. The only real way to make sure you get the
right on is, unfortunately, to switch off VO and rely, as I can, on my small
amount of sight. If you go to the movies pages the experience is even more
frustrating because no titles are announced at all. VO simply says something
like “Image on grid”. I keep meaning to tackle Sky app developers about this.

Is there anyone out there using the Sky Go app on an iPad Mini, particularly
the catch up section? I can use it perfectly OK on the iPhone but on the iPad
Mini I am not getting very good results at all!
Apart from finding it a challenge to find my way around the app, when I get
into the catch up section and have carried out my search for the programme I am
interested in, when I get my results, one icon seems to have three programmes
associated with it meaning that when you double tap on it you’re not really
sure which one is going to be activated. Has anyone managed to use the app
successfully on the iPad Mini and can offer me any tips for using it please?
Yours in hopeful anticipation,
Andrew
