Hi Jackie.Of course *smile*. I'm not criticising your opinion, if you find it useful then that's brilliant, but I bought one when Sky were promoting them directly and it cost me 70 quid plus carriage. I don't know if they've improved it since they originally launched it some time ago, but I thought it was the biggest waste of money I'd spent that month. I had the same idea that you did of listening to it around the house, but since I mainly listen to music and film programming, I found the speakers very unsatisfactory and on mine at any rate, the signal would keep dropping. Just my opinion, but if they're giving them away then why the hell not have one haha.

Hi Ibrahim Well of course you are entitled to your take on it, but I've had mine for a long time and find it extremely useful. I've never had any problems with it. I think the idea of it being free is that, firstly, they aren't available to buy any more. Secondly, it has something to do with Insight Radio, and them encouraging people to tune in using the Sky Gnome. Sorry you don't find it as useful as I do. (smile). What you don't mention is that they are absolutely rubbish. I bought one of these fellows as you put it and it cost me 70 quid in to the bargain. The speakers on the thing are tinny, the device itself is very heavy and unwieldy having no handle and you don't get much usage out of a single charge. If they are giving them away for free then that's perhaps saying something, but they aren't worth buying.----- Original Message ----- From: Jackie Cairns <mailto:jackie.cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: bcab@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ; uk-radio-listeners@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2009 10:30 AM Subject: [access-uk] Sky Gnome Please forgive the cross-posting. But thought those who don't receive RNIB's Access IT, or who haven't heard elsewhere, might like to know that the Sky Gnome is available free of charge from RNIB while stocks last. There have been threads on this device in the past, and I can provide a review of how it works off list if anyone would like a copy. If you have Sky, this is a really great little fellow to have around as he will relay any Sky broadcast you are listening to around the home or garden. It seems you just call RNIB Customer Services and give them your postcode or account number to be eligible for one as long as they are still available.
