How odd.  I haven't had an issue with it since I did a soft reset.  Watch it
prove me wrong later today 😊

Thought so. The glitch appears to be with Siri UK and US female voices.
The mail voices are not affected.

Hi Barry, may I ask what voice you use with voice-over?

Coincidentally, yesterday evening, my phone did similar.  It didn't so much
change to the default voice, but Siri got weaker and weaker, as if the
signal wasn't getting through properly.  I did a soft reset and it sorted it
out for now, but this does point to a software glitch.

Hi Barry,

A good guess but no, I think I have about 200 GB free memory. When this Siri
voice disappearance episode happened I went into VoiceOver Speech settings,
the status of both Siri female UK and US showed as if they have not been
downloaded, and when I tapped on them nothing happened and I could not
select either of them. Other voices did not suffer during those episodes
whether they were high or low quality and I was able to select them, and
that included the Siri male UK voice.

Amro

How much memory have you left on your iPhone, Amro?  My gut instinct is
that there isn't quite enough to  run the enhanced Siri voice, so it
defaults to the un-enhanced.  If you're nearly maxed out, try deleting an
app or two and see if that sorts it.

Hi all,

Sorry about the title but thought that would draw your attention.

Before I go through the hassle of reinstalling my iPhone’s software I
thought I’d check if anyone else is having this below oddity or a similar
one.

I use Siri female UK as my VoiceOver voice. Since installing iOS 13.4.1,
Siri voice has twice disappeared at random and was replaced by the default
voice of VoiceOver. The disappearance lasts for a short while, and then
Siri female voice comes back online at will! And no, a soft reset doesn’t
solve the problem; I can only sit tight until Siri finishes her coffee
break and comes back on.

So, my question is, has anyone seen a similar behaviour on their iPhone?
I’m trying to figure out if this is the doing of the new version of iOS and
I just need to wait for the next update, or if it is the actual software on
my iPhone that developed a glitch and it needs a fresh software install.

Regards,

Amro
