Hope this is of some help.

Model number: Panasonic DMR EX 769

THE MACHINE:

Comes with a DVD drive, and a 160GB hard drive; with built-in Freeview, and
Audio Description.

It has 2 scart sockets, RF in/out, HDMI connectivity, and the usual phono hook
ups for external audio and video in/out.

FACILITIES:

It will record the AD track when available[the HDD has to be used for this,
recording to DVD media won't do it]

The timer record option also allows for recording of the Free view radio
stations, as well as TV channels. There is also a button on the remote for
recording on the fly.

Only having a single tuner, it is not possible with this model to watch a
different channel to the one being recorded, other models with 2 tuners can do
this however.

ACCESSIBILITY:

Some initial sighted help will be required to set the machine up, but it is
easy to do, and it automatically searches and stores the Freeview stations.

Help will be needed too, to identify the less than obvious buttons on the
remote, and to learn the record and playback menus, but I would encourage
people not to be put off, operating the machine independently is a case of
learning a few steps, using the arrow keys, and the ok key, those with good
memories I'm sure won't have any difficulty, and a few notes anyway, are often
a good idea for back up.

Within a few minutes of having been shown, I was able to set a recording for
a future time, and turn on the AD for it, and then play it back after it had
recorded. I was also able to search through recordings I had made, and delete
those I wanted to get rid of.

I always hesitate at saying everybody will be able to do such and such a thing,
but feel it's almost safe to say that most on this list, will be able to use
this machine without help.

One thing I haven't had help to figure out yet, is how to back up from the HDD
to DVD, or vice versa [only had it a day]

If anybody has other questions, I'll do my best to help, and if anybody
decides to get one of these machines, then again, I'll support with
accessibility where I can.

Hope that's of some help in the search for some kind of accessible DVD
recorder. I am really very pleased with what I've found, and love the idea of
being able to set a timer to record radio as well.

Andy
