Thanks for all the emails that I have received so far with varying viewpoints.
They were all of interest to me.
But I would like to take things further by saying that I think within about 10
years time those manufacturers that are around today making special devises for
us who are blind or short sighted will not be around, because so many more
things will be on the open market.
Also by then, or soon after, glasses with a camera which can help us to see
things may even be be on sale at places like Specsavers or Boots!!
The only specialists manufacturers left will be those who make braille
machines, especially those that will interface fully with mainstream devises.
For example, you can today buy a braille notetaker for about £900 to £1000 and
an up to date tablet for about £500, with a total cost of about £1500. Or
instead you can lay out £4000 for a specially manufactured braille devise with
built in screen, which is based on the old Android systems which cannot be
updated! I know which system I would prefer!
