I think there is a podcast on it on apple vis. The one I heard about comes from the US and I think it was David Woodbridge who did the demo so actually the demo will be on his website also. It cost him an arm and a leg to have it sent from US to Australia, almost the price of it! ----- Original Message ----- From: <carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Curious! What's this wristband speaker you have? Do you find it loud enough in all situations?

Hi. I've tried both and BlSquare is the app for me. I've saved so
many locations which have helped me and I've found that I don't really
have to utilise a third party navigation app like Apple Maps or Google
Maps allot of the time. This app is every bit as good as the Trekker
and is allot sharper. It's also helpful to get telephone numbers for
all the POIs as one can call and enquire about any of them. I like the
new feature where I can use BlSquare with my Bluetooth Speaker
wrist band. I can get my location by pressing one button and
BlSquare keeps me updated anyway. The wrist band speaker has meant
that I can keep my phone in my pocket and this is a good thing as it's
not exposed for opportunists. Just because we are VI doesn't mean we
won't get mugged.

Hi,

Whatever your opinion, it was a good commercial <Smile>.

Seems silly to me though that basic features are missing, like not being
able to enter your own waypoints.

All the best

Hi.

BlSquare with extras? An interesting way of putting it. I use the RNIB
Navigator app for three reasons. Firstly, if you purchase a three year
subscription it works out at about £30 a year, not at all unreasonable given
the specialist nature of the app. Secondly, everything is under one roof,
all the tools you need to navigate successfully, safely and reliably. I have spent some years using the free/multi App approach and although it has its benefits, I preferred the simplicity of it all in one. Finally, if we are to
seriously encourage developers to consider GPS as a serious tool for
bl/partially sighted users, it is worth investing in the tools and giving
developers the confidence to realise that there is a market for blind users. I'm confident that apps like RNIB Navigator will only get better with time however we need to ensure that we tell developers how much we appreciate the work that they do by buying the product so that they have encouragement to
develop it fur
ther. I don't mean to sound sanctimonious, this is just my opinion.

I vote for "Bl square" you could also try "rnib navigator."

Hi all.

I am looking for a GPS satnav app for my iPhone for a Geocaching event
I am
taking part in. Although it's initially for this, I want one that will
be
more broadly useable in the future for general travel.

The obvious app that springs to mind is TomTom, but are there any
others
better suited to the totally blind and the iPhone with voiceover?

Cheers,
