Hi i'm surprised the nc10 Is still available it was the first samsung netbook
they made so I would'n't go for this model as it is the most out of date that
samsung do as for specs this machine is basically internally the same as the
ones you nentioned but much better keyboard and much better sound quality the
only thing I can think of is they may have changed what the n120 is as ive had
this little baby over a year now and given it quite heavy usage any way go for
the 220 model its a lot more recent model and therefore will be refined over
the orginal nc10. Best wishes Andrew 2W0 MGB

  Hi Andrew

you might be interested to know that the lowest price your notebook currently
sells for is £421. The specification is much lower than that of the n220 or
even the NC10, and they are nearly £200 cheaper.

I intend putting Microsoft security essentials on the notebook as for one
thing it's free and it's also a very effective antivirus program. I'll remove
all the bloat ware and also do the same as you by tweaking for performance
rather than bells and whistles.

Still can't make my mind up which one to go for, but intend purchasing one
within the next couple of days.

  Thanks

  Darren.

Hi dont know if the model I have is still available its the N120 its a very
nice netbook and its white so fab if you got a little vision left to find the
thing. regarding Ram I upgraded mine to 2gb and yes it does make a bit of
difference but only slight as netbook processors arnt that fast but do the job.
the other thing to consider with a netbook is what anti virus programme you
run as some of them are heavy on resourses and really clog up the performance
of a netbook to a dreadful crawl I use nod 32 with system access and this baby
goes like a rocket hardly any drag at all almost instant I have turned off all
the visual eye candy to boost resourses as well and this seems to make a
difference also Best wishes Andrew 2W0 MGB

      Hi Andrew

Thanks for the email. I'm actually buying the netbook for someone else
and they don't need anything more powerful than what a notebook has to offer.
Weight is also an issue as the lighter the better so again a notebook is the
obvious choice. I imagine Jaws will slow the machine down a little, but that
can be eased by the addition of extra RAM. Amazon seem to offer the best deal
for the n220 and DABS for the NC10. At the moment I'm leaning towards the n220
as it also offers built in bluetooth which comes in handy.

      Any more input gratefully received.

      Cheers

      Darren.

Hi I have a samsung n120 netbook which has much better sound and better
keyboard as the keys are quite large for a netbook. you said you are going to
run jaws this is quite heavy for a netbook yes it works but stops the machine
from flying I would strongly reccomend that you take a look at the samsung q330
its a touch bigger than a netbook but performance wise its an amimal and you
get a built in dvd reader writer specs are 13 inch screen, i3 multi core
processor 3 gb ddr 3 ram expandable and comes with w7 premium for that extra
inch on the with you get a fab machine the only thing is it costs about a third
more in price but this is what I would go for at the moment. Hope this helps

          HI All

I am thinking of purchasing a Samsung notebook. either the NC10 or
N220. Both come with a similar specification and it seems that they only come
with windows 7 starter now, rather than the aging XP home.

I know both of these models have been discussed quite extensively,
but I didn't take much notice of the discussions back then. always the way!

Just wondering how many of you have used both machines and which did
you like the best, and why?
For instance. Which has the most comfortable keyboard?
Also as it will be used with Jaws, initially the setup will have to
be performed with narrator. Has anyone found difficulty doing this?
Both machines come with 1GB of RAM, does upgrading to 2GB give much
of a performance boost?

I've read that the sound is not very good through the speakers on
either machine, but as it will mainly be used with headphones that won't be
much of an issue.

          Any thoughts would be appreciated.

          cheers

          Darren.
