Hi Iain,

I agree.

It also shouldn't be beyond RNIB to contact subscribers to the booksite, given
that we log in with our email addresses.

The RNIB book site has been up again since this afternoon. Unfortunately the
RNIB standard of communication means that no word of this has been posted on
either the RNIB Readers Forum or either the Talking Books Arena or the NLBUK
mailing lists. I really think in 2009 RNIB should make a new year resolution to
make its communications more timely and more proactive.

Just had this note from RNIB

"I have investigated why the site was down this morning and I am informed
by our IT Helpdesk Team that there is a fault with the air-conditioning unit/s
at Judd Street which has/have resulted in servers overheating or being in
danger of overheating. The current downtime is not related to the work being
conducted last Friday.

A message has been posted to alert users via the RNIB Forums and Customer
Services this morning."
