Hi,

You can disable SMS integration and use another more accessible app such as
Chomp SMS.

All the best

Subject: [access-uk] SMS hangouts intergration on Android

Hello,

I use the new, recently much talked about moto G phone. As some of you may
know, in kitkat, Android has intergrated google hangouts with SMs so really the
only way to send and view SMS messages is through hangouts. Though moto G does
not have kitkat yet, this intergration is possible with the latest version of
hangouts. For the most the app seems to do the job fine, but there seems to be
one major issue. If there is more than one message in the list of message,
talkback does not seem to accurately read the message one is focused on. So for
example, if you have message from John, James and George, when scroling through
messages talkback will report message from George, where as you may be focused
on either of the other 2 messages. The only way to find out which message you
are focused on is to get in to the actual message. To make things worse, as far
as I know, one can not delete a message when within the message, only from the
list of messages by long pressing on the message itself and then choosing
delete out of the menu that pops up. Granted if you visual the order of the
messages on the display you can have an educated guess as to which message you
are actually selecting, but still it’s a bit of an annoying process. Another
bad point of hangouts is, though not strictly access related is that not more
than one message can be deleted at the same time. More than one can be
selected, but when one selects 2 or more messages only the ‘archive’ option is
available.

So, am I doing anything wrong? If not is there a workarround for this?

I am aware that I could just simply use motorola’s/phone’s own messaging, but
kitkat is arriving to this phone eventually so I might as well get used to
hangouts, besides, I am curious as to if anyone else find this to be an issue
and how, if at all possible, to fix it.
