You don't need to get the smart metre readings at all, it does it for you.
the website at British gas is accessible, just go there and sign in, then
select an account and choose manage, then choose predict next bill. It will
show you what you pay, what's been used, and predicted bill. Also, it will
give you an idea if you're paying too much on chosen payment method or not.
