I believe the new EPG is a bit more like the Anytime EPG?

no I've not experienced it myself, but going on what others have said,
the new system throws up issues if you can't see it. and the normal
boxes are staying with the old EPG as far as I know from sky's disabled
access team. if it is easier to use, I stand corrected.

I gather from my internet searches that the normal EPG is going to
update to the newer look one anyway. No?

Series stacking is much simpler in the new EPG by all accounts. Have you
experienced that?

 Hi Damon:

I was tempted to do the had thing too, for the box if nothing else,
though the change of EPG to a more difficult one would be a concern for
me, as I've got used to the simpler normal sky plus one.

if they are giving you the choice now, I may rethink my choices.

I wasn't just having a 'what can I spend my money on' moment when I
ordered Sky + HD yesterday.

I've got it because you can record up to 185 hours of standard
definition TV on the 500 gig hard drive. And 60 hours of HD programmes.
Clearly the crystal clear picture wasn't going to sway me. A bigger hard
disk drive changes the way you think of sky + because you can just
hoover up so much more telly off the ether without thinking about
whether it deserves the space. And it's an extra 10 pounds per month for
a year to get the new box, working out at 120 pounds.

The HD boxes have an ethernet port and are ready for the Sky video on
Demand service that was due to start last month. You plug your broadband
into it though it's not clear yet whether you need to have Sky Broadband
or whether any broadband service will suffice.

Sky isn't associated with Project Canvas, however, so it still may not
be the box you want. Project Canvas should ultimately deliver you a
certain amount of spoken access to the EPG and video on deman.demand
when it arrives this time next year.

But still no commercially available boxes talk.
