Hi Edward,I know that on W7 and XP you can use the command prompt which can be found in the accessories folder and gives you a dos command line. I think I tried to play an old text game on an XP machine in this fashion but I found it quite cumbersome.
Think it was "colossal cave adventure". Let me know how you get on. Jim Mc On 29/10/2013 20:38, Edward Green wrote:
Hi all, I quite fancy playing some of the old text-based games that I used to play under MS DOS 6.2 and wonder what is required to do this or whether it’s still possible. I don’t have any machines running MS Dos, but I do have Windows machines running Windows XP, 7 and 8. I also have a Mac but I imagine it would be easier to do this under Windows. If this is possible, do I need one of the old DOS screen readers or can the games be made to run under Windows perhaps from a command line?I realise that this is probably of limited interest to the list, so please feel free to write to me privately or to direct me to online sources of information.** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ___________________________________________ This email has been scanned by iomartcloud. http://www.iomartcloud.com/
