Hi,

If you have a dialer on the system then yes it matters. It may not be able to
dial through your ADSL modem, and of course the 56k modem should be
disconnected if you aren't using it, but the dialer may be doing other things
on the system as well as dialing premium rate numbers.

Andrew.

Subject: [access-uk] Rogue Dialers with a broadband connection

Hi, is it the case that rogue dialers can't hijack your net connection and
rack up huge phone bills if you've got an ADSL connection and don't have a
56K modem connected to the phone line? I just did an online scan for
threats on the Symantec site which detected dialer.generic on my system but
am I right that it doesn't really matter because of the ADSL
connection?...cheers
