I use a different app now called Ultimate Alexa, but Reverb is just as good.
By the way, the Alexa app allows you to talk to it now.
The difference between all of these though and Ultimate Alexa, is with
Ultimate, you can set a wake word. So I can actually say Hey Alexa to my
phone.
That's why I switched over, because playing hands free with your phone is
sometimes useful.

Steve Nutt recommended an app called Reverb which puts Alexa on your
Android or iOS device. I downloaded this last night, and have been
having some fun with it today. While listening to the football
earlier using my Echo, I was able to use Reverb to ask Alexa different
questions without interrupting the match. Even her voice is there
like you have an Echo in your pocket. When you download it, sign in
with your Amazon credentials, and allow Reverb to access the
microphone. It knows you have an Echo, so takes the information from
it. I then went to the Alexa app on my PC, and entered on the Reverb
link which is in the Alexa settings. I ensured my location was
correct, then went to Reverb on my phone to play with it. If you
prefer using the Alexa app, you can access it from Reverb to do any

When using Alexa in Reverb, double-tap and hold on the microphone button.
You don't need to say the wake word, Alexa, just ask her what you want
to know. Yes I suppose it's a bit gimmicky, but it is useful if you
aren't near your Echo to just ask Reverb something instead.
I also read last night somewhere that there is a speaker that combines
Alexa and Google Home which is called Clarity. I'm guessing it isn't
available in the UK yet though.
