Don't know Andy if there's maybe a bit of confusion here about what you are
trying to do.

If you want to reply to a message on this list then, yes, control-r does
that.

If you want to reply to the original sender of message that's a bit more
involved.  (If you have JFW 7, or 7.1, then seemingly you can press
insert-control-r to get the original senders address into the 'to' field.
(Fancy a non-JFW user knowing that!.)  Only that I've noticed this on the
BCT list.

If you haven't got the the said JFW version, then you have to get at the
properties of the message and copy the original sender's address to put into
the new message.  Won't try and describe how to do that.
