Hi Dave,

No. you need to ring Microsoft Tech Support once you've got your legal CD
and key.

Explain the situation to them. They will help you get out of the OS lock
and enter your valid licence code.

Regards,
Barry.

copy

Barry, I am afraid I am getting confused. I am not able to boot the
computer as Windows now refuses to load after running Windows Update and it

says Hardware change detected and it locks up. However, I was going to
place a new and legal copy of Windows XP on the machine. Are you saying the

new Windows CD will launch a Wizard which lets me correct the current XP
with a new license key and no further installation required? Sorry for my
befuddlement. Thanks.
