Hi Andy I think that you can undo a restore in Windows XP. What a night. I was up until 3am trying to sort everything out. I managed it eventually. I was advised to use unclean to remove Norton as Add/Remove programmes in Control Panel had no option to remove Norton. However, when I attempted this, I was only allowed to uninstall one of the two components. After I did this however, I could not remove the other component or even turn Norton off again. I took Peter's advise and un-checked everything to do with Norton within my msconfig. Although I still have Norton installed, it has been turned off and I'm back to using Sygate and AVG. Perhaps if I attempt to uninstall Norton now by using unclean, it will work, but for the meantime, I'm just going to let it sit there. Unfortunately, I also restored my computer back 2 months last night so now have to reinstall a few programmes. Remind me in future Carol if I start talking about trying Norton again eh? Best wishes.
