Hi Peter,

You may be able to circumvent this problem by changing the DNS servers on
your router.

Change to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  Those are Google's official DNS servers.

All the best

Steve

Have now installed security patch and updated to 11. As you  suspected
Steve, Virgin Media was the problem.

Hi Peter,

Are you on VirginMedia by chance?

It seems that VM block some of Google's IP addresses so the update never
works.

What I would advise is to try the update with Wi-Fi turned off.

But I would update to 11 rather than install the patch, unless you have a
reason not to.

All the best

Steve

Subject: [access-uk] Help with Android 10 problem please

I delayed installing android 11. A notification came up that a security
patch was needed for 10. When trying to install the patch I was notified
that the "download was paused". When I double-tapped the resume button I was
given the message "download paused". This keeps happening despite the phone
being  connected to the mains. My daughter also tried without Talkback
running and this made no difference.

How can I get out of this cycle and install Android 11 please?

Thanks for any help.

Peter
