I feel duty bound to post this message today.

The other day I said I'd checked out the NewsAloud program and had
difficulties using it with JAWS. I said it was clunky and there were
reading issues as well as problems with some of the checkboxes in the
menus.

This is a bit of an update.

I seem to have been experiencing generalised computer problems and after
doing a bit of a clean up of my system I now find that the NewsAloud
product works much better. I now wouldn't consider it clunky ... in
fact it was my machine that was at fault.

That said, the issues regarding the checkboxes still remain - they are
inaccessible in jaws. But, in theory, this really shouldn't matter too
much, though they should address it in a future update.

RSS feeds really are a great way for visually impaired people to
condense the net. If you're sick of clicking thru all your favourite
websites, scrolling past the navigation and promotions, and would really
just like a basic as hell list of headlines from all your favourite
websites, then you should really seriously consider looking at an RSS
agrigator program ... sometimes known as WebFeed readers or similar.
They're becoming very popular in the USA.

And let me urge you to seriously check out NewsAloud. at the
www.nextup.com website.

Huge apologies for having mixed up my own computer symptoms with the
quality of the NewsAloud program.

Go and get it now, download it, try it out. RSS is the way forward for
visually impaired people. It's not overly techie, it's not confusing,
it's very very simple and ... I've said enough now.

NewsAloud does have a few bugs though ... but I've found the team are
very very responsive to emails and have altered bugs for me within the
space of ten minutes ... I then just hit the update button and it
grabbed the new changes. Marvellous service.

...Damon - feeling a tad guilty and hoping he's righted the situation.

PS: Does anyone know of any good web based RSS agrigators? Yes kids,
you don't even need to download a program if you can find an accessible
web based RSS reader, you just go to one page and it updates with all
your fave headlines from your fave sites. I'm gonna stop going on about
RSS now.
