John,

The Tissot, when I bought mine about 2 months ago, was the price you quoted
from the supplier int he States, but they wanted 100 dollars as postage and
packaging charges. When I worked it out it was actually only 25 pounds
cheaper than the RNIB. With the potential problems should there be a
warranty claim in the future I reasoned the 25 quid wa s not worth saving
for the potential problems that may occur with being across the Atlantic
from the supplier.

I have been very happy with the Tissot, by th eway. All my sighted friends
have commented on its smart appearance and obvious quality.

Some time ago there was a bit of activity on this list about the Tissott Vibrating watch and the price here in the UK from the RNIB and the price that it can be bought at from abroad.

It was suggested on this list, I cannot remember by whom, that if the RNIB
had enough complaints that they might review their pricing policy.

The current RNIB price for a blind person is £251, I then had a quick search
with Google on the web over the weekend and easily and quickly came up with
a price of $360, including delivery from the US. This works out at current
rates to about £200.

Today I took the opportunity to ring Customer Services at the RNIB.

I was told by the Customer Services Rep that they only have a single
supplier and that they sell it at the price appropriate for them and that if
I could get it cheaper elsewhere then I am welcome to do so.

I remonstrated and it was then suggested that I might like to write in and
let them know about my concerns.

It does tend to show that the service element in Customer Services at the
RNIB is somewhat lacking.

Regards, John.
