My problem stems from the RNIB Overdrive subscription team themselves. They are already aware of my problem.

Hello all, Not wishing to wield the wooden spoon, but some of those who have had problems using the system could feed back to the RNIB and/or phone in a response to the discussion. As someone else pointed out on this list, discussions with local authorities about funding subscriptions should have been undertaken prior to launch and it seems that these failures indicate there has been little or no proper project management. The thing which annoyed me, I have to say, was that the RNIB spokesman on In Touch did not acknowledge that some members like us are experiencing problems in just signing up. He gave the impression that everything was going well and he could have taken the opportunity of letting us know when the subscription process will be sorted out. I think RNIB should simply have sent a message to all TB members offering a month's trial while they checked the status of everyone's subs and confirmed with LAs that it was ok to transfer membership. I know that the perception is that there are some blind people who will criticise RNIB whatever they do, but I think in this instance this potentially important development in giving access to their stock of books has gone off at half cock.On 23 Sep 2014, at 20:54, Paul Warner wrote: RNIB spokesman on In Touch this evening said that where an existing Talking Book Library member expresses an interest in Overdrive, they will be invited to try out the service for a month. That's not true - not in my case anyway. Although I established that I was an existing member, the service engaged in a bizarre exchange of emails relating to whether my local authority pays for my subscription and, after my reporting back to the RNIB, I was told that they were going to be talking with 'local authorities' within the next few weeks. They said nothing to me about trying out Overdrive and nothing about what I could do next. They have just left me hanging. What the hell is going on?
