Edward, the trouble is, it would be bloody heavy, and it would be bound to get nicked.
Cheers

Hi all,

I must say I was once tempted to bling up my cane. I thought some gold plating on the sections and a cubic zirconia in the handle might go down a treat. However, I don't handle my canes with nearly enough TLC for them to last much above 3 months, so I decided that this would be a hugely expensive operation.

I know that the colour of the cane has come to depict a certain disability. However, if you're a sighted person who sees someone walking a long holding a stick out in front of them moving it in some sort of side-to-side gesture, then surely the chances are that you're going to take extra care as something is likely to be amiss, even if you don't know what it is.

Hi. I'm well in favour of coloured canes. The whole idea is meant to remove the tipical blind label of a white stick. I don't mind looking at them as a fashon accessory because the plain white cane is just so dull and has blind written all over it and I expect the majority want to move away from this.

Hi, not too sure about the idea of coloured canes. You are right in saying that the white cane is the universal indication of blindness. I fear that in offering coloured canes the impact will be lost and people will start to think that it is some kind of fashion accessory rather than a major mobility aid for the blind. Others may have different views but why confuse something that is so widely? Regards to you, CJ.
