After further investigation, I have now succeeded in opening the attachment.
Initially, the attachment was another email with an attachment. I opened
the email and then I open the attachment, but it was exactly the same as the
original email sent to me by RNIB.

Out of interest, when you say the second file wouldn't open, what format was
it? As I can't help directly with the attachment you're having problems
with, but to give you an example of what I'm saying, I've had attachments
sent to me, (not by the RNIB), where one was in .doc format, and the other
was in .docx format. I haven't had problems with either, but I'm just
wondering if the two documents were in the same format, or whether one was
in a format which your computer couldn't recognise without you making some
adjustments to something at your end.
