Hi Steve.

Woe, one hour? I think that's exadurating the point just a little. I've used the RNIB Navigator when walking journeys of up to 3 miles and that without a battery pack. That would normally take me on a familiar route about one and a half or 2 hours and I still would have about 40 per cent of my battery still remaining. It is a hog certainly, but no way would you get just an hour out of the app on a full charge of the phone, and this is an iPhone 5S I'm talking about by the way.
All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Ibrahim,

But it doesn't make efficient use of the battery. For example, I can get
four hours of uninterrupted GPS out of SmartVision, in comparison to reports
that I have heard of only an hour or so on Navigator. It is a battery hog,
more so than even Apple Maps.

All the best

Steve

Hi John.

Like all apps that use location based services continuously in the
background such as navigation and orientation aids, the battery on your
iPhone will be consumed more rapidly than given normal use. The RNIB
Navigator not only requires the use of location services but also requires
an internet connection, so it is recommended that you purchase an external
battery pack from the likes of Anker or a form fitting battery backup case
for your phone to extend battery life.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Carol.

The app is essentially the same, same layout etc. I haven't created a
custom POI yet but will do so today when I travel to work in the morning and
try to bookmark the bus stop nearest the RNIB, currently St Pancras
International.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi all,

I notice there's a new version of the above from Sendero and that you can
now save POIs. This makes it more attractive, so I may think about giving
it another go.

Has anyone upgraded yet and, if so, what differences have you noticed?
