Carol:

Take a look at the Maplin page:

www.maplin.co.uk

I seem to recall that they were advertising a 500G Maxtor for about £70 a
month or so ago.

Subject: [access-uk] REPLACEMENT EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE - ABOUT 150 GIG

Hi,

I have an external Maxtor hard drive, now about six years old, which has
been well used etc. and has now failed so badly that I don't even dare to
try to reformat to re-use anyway.

First, can anyone advise how I reformat it (or remove all its contents
securely) because when I tried to reformat (really to remove contents) I was

told it could not be formatted. I want to be sure to destroy all its
contents once and for all!

Second, has anyone purchased an external hard drive recently and what would
you recommend?

Thanks, as always, for any input.
