Dear Nile, This has been a problem for many years now (I use Word 2003 and occasionally come across it). I think it happens when items have been cross-referenced with each other in a document. I agree that it is very annoying but it is sufficiently rare, in the documents I use, to mean that I haven't experimented much to get rid of it. One thing you might try (although I'm afraid it is very much a long shot) is to press the applications key on one of these fields and selecte the activate/de-activate field option. Otherwise I can only suggest getting in touch with the manufacturer of your screen reader to find out if there is a solution. I use Jaws but I have not tried other screen readers to find out whether the problem is Jaws-specific or not. Sorry I can't be of more help Robert -----Messaggio originale----- Da: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Per conto di Niall Gallagher Inviato: domenica 3 novembre 2013 13.37 A: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Oggetto: [access-uk] Reading Citations Hi All, >> >> >> My issue is, JAWS insists on reading the "ref field" information prior >> to the actual citation itself. >> For example: This is how it should read (Gallagher 2013) This is how it's read Ref# Type= blah, blah, blah...
