One very simple way of removing double spaces is to use Word’s “Find and
Replace”. Put two spaces in the find box and one in the replace box and repeat
until it finds no more. Not so good if you actually need more than one space
somewhere.
Best wishes

Hi Alison,
Well next Email you write, before sending it, just try JAWS+Space then A, and
your text will be analysed with the default settings. It will say that it will
describe all inconsistencies, then just arrow through the document.
This will work in any editor/word proecessor pretty much.
You can press JAWS+Space then A again to turn it off.
If you go into settings centre, you can then set what consistencies it will
check for.
All the best
Steve

Thanks for this advice, Steve. I will certainly have a look.
One thing I have learnt from my writing, is the use of Jaws quick keys for
finding comments within a Word document and other features; I’ve found this
feature really useful.

Hi Alison,
Please do look at Text Analyser in JAWS Basic Training. It can do all you
want, and more.
You can use sound schemes, voice pitch changes or words, and all kinds of
things.
I can help you with it at usual rates <Smile>.
All the best

The ability to know when I have accidentally typed two spaces would be very
useful. Two of my Creative Writing Class are currently editing one of my
stories and one of the ost common errors they have found is that in places I
have spacing gaps. So I can see how this function might be useful but feel a
subtle tone would be more helpful than the screenreader constantly saying
“space marker”.
One of the other errors was that on two occasions I’d accidentally changed the
font. I know that by pressing insert f in Jaws I can be told what formatting I
have but is there anyway in which I can be alerted when there is a significant
formatting change?
