It's many years since I last checked but I thought even the free versionwill edit pre-existing files. I'm pretty sure that the standard version willdo what you want but you must check the information on the site yourself before buying. There's a free edition and a moreadvanced pay edition. For the sort of thing you need it for the free edition will do fine. To trim or otherwise edit it's very easy. Having loaded thefile to be edited move to the beginning of the section you want to edit,then set the first marker, which you'll find in the edit menu. Then go to the end of the section to be edited and set the second marker. Having that just cut, either with control x or selecting cut from the edit menu.
