You got your keyboard layout set to English US. Try pressing
shift+alt to switch to English UK.

Hi all,

On my parents keyboard. When you press the number 2 with the shift
key, you get the at sign, instead of quote. And when you press the
number 3 with the shift key, you get number, instead of pound. And
when you press the ' key, with the shift key, you get the quote
sign. And when you press the number key, you get backslash, or with
the shift down, you get bar. And when you press the grave accent
key, with shift key, you get tilde. Please can anyone tell me, what
would cause this. And how to put it wright. Thanks in advance, for
your help.
       All the best
